Spinner's End.....the forbidden territory. Despite her mother's dire warnings, a strange curiosity prevailed over her.
"Never venture to the other side," her mother had told her for the umpteenth time. But, as always, in vain. She, like her father, had a stubborn streak. A trait that killed her father. Right there....where she was now....Spinner's End.
Rumors were abound that the dark, sinister locality was haunted. Every house was abandoned. Except for one. No one knew who resided there. And no one wanted to know either. The only thing that everybody knew that whoever went to Spinner's End never returned.

The man followed her as she tentatively tiptoed into the dark alley. She was aware of the man's presence but ignored it. She steeled herself and walked ahead.
The alley stank. The smell of death, she thought, as she made her way further into the darkness. The noise made by the crickets added to the eeriness of her surroundings.
Suddenly, she felt something furry brush against her bare leg and jumped up, frightened.
That was what the man was waiting for.
The last thought to cross Eileen's mind before the chloroform knocked her unconscious was her mother's warning of not venturing into Spinner's End.
